\u201cThe people walking in darkness have seen a great light.\u201d These words of the prophet Isaiah speak to every generation of humanity. We live in a world filled with challenges, and darkness seems to press in. But the great light always remains. These days of Christmas offer hope as we see the prophet\u2019s words come true. Isaiah continues, \u201cFor unto us a child is born, a son is given.\u201d

Jesus was born into this world. He did rise from the dead. When God fulfilled his promise in the stable at Bethlehem, only a few could see the light. The child mostly went unnoticed, but His light changed the course of human history. Eventually, this light reaches to every person.

The darkness in our lives makes it hard to see and the darkness of our world can seem insurmountable, but the child Jesus is also the Living God. The promised Messiah accomplishes his work beyond the limits of this world. The life he brings is new life in the world to come. Our Salvation is for Eternal Life. In Jesus, we find our hope for this world and forever.

Take some time this Christmas to sit in prayer before a nativity scene. Notice the light that shines from the star. Consider the child Jesus as God\u2019s response to the needs of our world and your personal needs. This is the Son that is given. Ask Jesus to see beyond whatever darkness there is.
